Start the route in Oostkapelle
The route starts in Oostkapelle, an ideal starting point if you still want to rent a bike. Via Hello Bikes you can easily rent a bike and pick it up in the village, so you can set off immediately. From here you start at junction 20 and cycle towards junctions 16 and 14. Soon you cycle through the nature reserve De Manteling, a beautiful piece of nature and you pass Kasteel Westhove.
First stop in Domburg
Arriving at junction 14 you are in the middle of bustling Domburg. The place for a first short stop! Settle down on a cozy terrace for a cup of coffee and enjoy the pleasant atmosphere before you cycle on again.
Cycling along the dike
Continue your route towards junction 10 and set course for Westkapelle. Just before the village, follow the signs up and cycle along the dike, with the view of the sea on one side and the village on the other. Along the way, you soon see Westkapelle’s characteristic lighthouse pop up. You then cycle along the Westkapelse Kreek, a quiet and green area. Then follow the signs to junction 40.
Lunch in Zoutelande
Just before you reach junction 40, after about 16 km, it’s a perfect time for a second stopover and a nice lunch. At the traffic light on the right, you can park your bike at the bottom of the dunes. From there you can walk in a few minutes to beach pavilion The Strandzot. A nice place to sit down, enjoy the view and recharge before continuing the route.
Continue the route towards Valkenisse
After lunch, it’s time to get back on your bike and pass junction 40. You continue your route through Zoutelande via node 42 and then cycle through a beautiful stretch of forest towards node 44. At Groot Valkenisse, turn left and head inland, via node 48 towards Biggekerke, node 49.
Cycling along the meadows
Via junctions 50, 45, 47 and 51 you cycle towards Grijpskerke. Along the way you will enjoy the vast Walcheren landscape, with green meadows, characteristic farms and quiet country roads. A lovely stretch to cycle through at your own pace. When you arrive at junction 21, you are in Grijpskerke and have already covered more than 27 km.
The end is in sight
We start the last part of the route. Follow the signs towards junctions 23 and 22, back to Oostkapelle. Once you reach junction 20 again, the kilometers are over and you have cycled some 33 km.
