Start the route in Oostkapelle
The route starts in Oostkapelle, an ideal starting point if you still want to rent a bike. Via Hello Bikes , you can easily rent a bike and pick it up in the village, so you can hit the road right away. From here, start at junction 20 and cycle toward junctions 16 and 14. Soon you’ll be cycling through De Manteling nature reserve, a beautiful stretch of nature, and you’ll pass Westhove Castle.
First stop in Domburg
When you reach junction 14, you’ll find yourself right in the heart of bustling Domburg. The perfect spot for your first quick stop! Settle down at a cozy outdoor café for a cup of coffee and soak up the lively atmosphere before continuing your bike ride.
Cycling along the dike
Continue on your route toward junction 10 and head toward Westkapelle. Just before the village, follow the signs uphill and cycle along the dike, with a view of the sea on one side and the village on the other. Along the way, you’ll soon see the distinctive Westkapelle lighthouse come into view. Then you’ll cycle along the Westkapelse Kreek, a peaceful and green area. After that, follow the signs to junction 40.
Lunch in Zoutelande
Just before you reach junction 40, after about 16 km, it’s the perfect time for a second stop and a nice lunch. At the traffic light, you can park your bike at the bottom of the dunes on the right-hand side. From there, it’s just a few minutes’ walk to the beach pavilion De Strandzot. A great spot to take a break, enjoy the view, and recharge before continuing on your route.
Continue along the route toward Valkenisse
After lunch, it’s time to get back on your bike and pass junction 40. Continue your route through Zoutelande via junction 42, then cycle through a beautiful stretch of forest toward junction 44. At Groot Valkenisse, turn left and head inland, via junction 48 toward Biggekerke, junction 49.
Cycling past the meadows
Cycle toward Grijpskerke via junctions 50, 45, 47, and 51. Along the way, you’ll enjoy the expansive Walcheren landscape, with green meadows, quaint farmhouses, and quiet country roads. A lovely stretch to cycle through at your own pace. When you arrive at junction 21, you’ll be in Grijpskerke and will have already covered over 27 km.
The end is in sight
We’re starting the final stretch of the route. Follow the signs toward junctions 23 and 22, back to Oostkapelle. Once you’re back at junction 20, you’ve completed the route, having cycled about 33 km. Time to wrap things up in charming Oostkapelle, where you can settle in for a drink and some tasty snacks.
