About 15 minutes by bike. The house sits right on a cycle path, making it easy to explore nearby beaches and towns like Domburg, Oostkapelle, and Middelburg.

What's the check-in experience like?

The house has underfloor heating, which can take a little time to warm up during very cold spells, but once it's running, guests report the house stays comfortably warm.

Pick fruit in the owners' orchard — berries, raspberries and more. Cycle to Oostkapelle or Domburg beach. Enjoy the wide views over the Zeeland countryside. Make friends with the ten chickens roaming freely on the grounds.

Neighborhood

Aagtekerke is a quiet village in the green heart of Walcheren, surrounded by polders. The beaches at Oostkapelle and Domburg are within cycling distance. The property is situated next to the junctions for cycle and walking routes. The village itself has a rural, relaxed atmosphere.

Access

Parking is available in front of the cottage — a Hello Zeeland parking sign has been placed. Bicycles can be stored at the cottage (not covered). Pets are welcome.

Space

The owners built the house themselves and chose the materials with great care: the upper floor is made from an old gym floor from Middelburg. The renovated property opened in February 2024. The house is almost energy-neutral.

The living room is spacious and a cosy spot has been created in the loft for relaxing. The kitchen is equipped with a coffee machine, kettle, toaster, microwave, oven, hob, dishwasher and fridge.

There is one bedroom on the ground floor and one on the first floor. On the ground floor, there is a spacious bathroom with a walk-in shower and a separate toilet. Bed linen and towels are provided.

The terrace is a lovely spot to sit outside, and dogs can run around safely here thanks to the fencing. Children are very welcome: there is a play area in the loft upstairs, and a cot, high chair, children’s crockery and stair gate are available.

Transit

At Kalfhoeksepad 8, you can park for free in front of the property. A clear Hello Zeeland parking sign shows you where to park. Entry is through the main door on the right. Everything is organised for your stay.

We spent 4 nights at 'Bij Aagje' as a family of four. The house itself is beautiful, modern, and very well-equipped. The kids loved the spacious layout. However, our sleep was significantly disrupted. A mattress in the first-floor bedroom has a noticeable pit in it, causing back pain. There is also an issue with the plumbing; bathroom usage caused a noticeable sewage stench to drift into the lower-floor bedroom at times. Lastly, potential guests should know that while the description mentions "ten cheerful chickens," it omits the fact that there is a very loud rooster that crowed at 6:00 AM every morning. Photos show the birds, but a clear heads-up in the text about the rooster would have been appropriate for a listing marketed as a "peaceful getaway." For €1172 for 4 nights, the lack of transparency on the noise and the issues with the bed and plumbing were disappointing.

Positive: Wir hatten einen schönen und ruhigen Urlaub mit tollen Spaziergängen in die umliegenden Städte. Negative: Wegen der sehr kalten Temperaturen hatte die Bodenheizung etwas Mühe warm zu werden. Danach war alles gut gewärmt.

Das Haus war für uns als Familie mit 3 Kindern perfekt! Super ruhig gelegen und viel Privatsphäre! Die eingezäunte Terrasse war für die Kinder und den Hund super! Direkt am Fahrradweg gelegen, konnte man super die Gegend erkunden, zum Strand waren es ca. 15 Minuten mit dem Rad! Die Vermieter sind nebenan in ihrem Haus und super lieb und nett! Wir werden auf jeden Fall nochmal wieder kommen!

Positive: Het huisje is rustig gelegen naast een weide met schaapjes en kippen. Momenteel zijn er werkzaamheden en ligt het er buiten niet helemaal bij zoals op de foto’s, maar eenmaal binnen in het huisje heb je er geen last van. De bedden sliepen goed en de badkamer was proper. Er stond een welkomspakketje klaar toen we binnen kwamen met Zeeuwse koekjes en een fles verse appelsap. De eigenaar verwelkomden ons heel vriendelijk en gaf ons tips van de buurt. Toen we vertrokken hebben we nog een mooi plantje mogen uitkiezen! Super lief! Negative: De checkout was al om 10u ‘s ochtends en dat is wel heel erg vroeg voor de prijs die we betaalden voor een weekend. Als je een uurtje langer wou blijven moest je 16€ bijbetalen en als je tot 13u wou blijven was het 43€ extra betalen. Dit vonden we niet echt fijn.
