4 of the coolest restaurants in Goes

Hello! My name is Patricia Roosenstein. As a true city girl (born in Utrecht), I grew up surrounded by restaurants and a lively atmosphere. Since my college days, I’ve lived in various provinces and in all sorts of places. From Utrecht to North Holland, then to South Holland, and even a brief stint in Drenthe. When I moved from Drenthe to Zeeland in 2017, my main questions were: what are the people here like, and what’s the restaurant scene like in Goes?

In 2017, I moved to the municipality of Goes as a girl from Zeeland. The town of Goes has about 28,000 residents. It’s a very charming little town in Zeeland. I’ve discovered quite a few spots in Zeeland over the past few years, but I’m still very happy that I live in Goes because of its cozy atmosphere. Over the past few years, I’ve realized that both the people in Zeeland and the local restaurants and bars are definitely on par with those in the Randstad. I find the people in Zeeland to be open, sincere, friendly, and interested. Now, a word about the restaurants in Goes. I’ve been raving about them for years. In the short time I’ve lived in Zeeland, I’ve noticed that some fun, new, and trendy spots have popped up: that makes me happy. In this article, I’ll share my favorite restaurants in Goes.

De Brass has been open since September 2019. Previously, Brasserie D’Anvers was located here. This restaurant in Goes has been taken over and has undergone a major makeover. Compared to the previous restaurant, De Brass has truly changed for the better in terms of atmosphere and menu. They have a cool logo, a beautiful space, and delicious dishes on the menu. They also offer special takeout options. We’ve already taken advantage of these a few times. Highly recommended: the homemade limoncello, the Brass appetizer platter, and the absolutely delicious boneless spare ribs!

Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Restaurant Kale & de Bril has quickly launched the Kale & de Bril takeout menu. How does it work? You place your order, specifying the number of courses and choosing your dessert (such as a delicious cheese platter or a sweet treat). Then you pick it up in a box and, with just a few simple steps at home, you can finish preparing the dishes. Even the most novice home cook can put a Michelin-starred meal on the table this way. They serve this home menu from Tuesday through Saturday. Due to its popularity, they’re sometimes fully booked, so be sure to order in advance. In any case, we thoroughly enjoyed an evening of fine dining with these gentlemen’s dishes.
