Six trendy beach pavilions in Zeeuws-Vlaanderen

You can hop on a bike or go on foot. Or you can do something completely different: take a golf cart! From Cadzand-Bad via Groede to Breskens. We start this route in Cadzand on the coast at Moio Beach, a lovely beach bar with a beautiful interior. Aqua-blue accents that perfectly match the beach vibes you’ll undoubtedly feel that day. The best spot to sit is on the side of the pavilion with the marble tables and blue chairs. Maybe not the most practical spot if you’re having lunch, but it’s a feast for the eyes! The salmon toast is highly recommended, as are the cheese croquettes served with slices of bread.

We continue our route to the next beach pavilion: Ruig beach pavilion. With its white-painted walls and sloping roof, Ruig is a real eye-catcher. As soon as you step inside, you immediately experience the relaxed atmosphere of this pavilion with its wooden materials and industrial look. A truly rugged vibe where you’ll definitely want to linger for a while. There are several cozy benches outside where you can enjoy your snack and drink in peace. The Ruig grilled cheese sandwich is highly recommended, as is the pizza bread with various tapenades. Super tasty and fun to share!

There are plenty of trendy spots along the Zeeland coast, so we’re going to keep going. On to the botanical beach pavilion Woest 17 in Nieuwvliet! Inside, you’ll find unique plants and tall murals everywhere, and outside there’s a lovely terrace. All together, this place makes for a very cozy spot to hang out for a while. It’s been a while since lunch, so it’s time for ice cream. You can choose from various ice cream sundaes and rotating desserts like crème brûlée with mango-ginger sorbet or a praline tart with meringue and cinnamon ice cream. Not much of an ice cream fan? Then Woest 17 still has plenty of other snacks and drinks to choose from.

We’re almost in Breskens, so we’re almost at the end of the route (16 km in total). But not before we’ve paid a visit to ‘T Halve Maentje. Beach pavilion ’t Halve Maentje got a complete makeover last year, and you can tell right away. With its eye-catching pink flag featuring a moon fluttering cheerfully in the wind, you really can’t miss this hotspot. Inside, you’ll be surprised by a fresh and light interior. We ordered a warm brie sandwich with walnuts and honey, and it turned out to be a hit. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to enjoy good food with a view of the Westerschelde.
