When you book a week in Zeeland, of course you want to taste typical Zeeland delicacies. As just mentioned, the Zeeland bolus: a rolled up stalk of bread dough with sugar. The more it sticks, the better the bolus! The bolus is available at any bakery. Along the coast, enjoy the two most beloved seafood Zeeland has to offer: mussels and oysters. Be sure to visit the town of Yerseke located on the Oosterschelde in Zuid-Beveland. The mussel and oyster village where you will find several restaurants.

Of course, a visit to the miles of beaches that Zealand has is not to be missed. That’s what many a tourist comes to Zeeland for. Is the weather bad during your week in Zeeland? Not to worry. Even in less weather, the beach in Zeeland is fun! In the fall, get a breath of fresh air on the beach and enjoy a hot drink and a big slice of apple pie at a cozy beach pavilion. There are so many beaches to explore in Zeeland. Not surprising when 650km of choice is available! Do you go for a touristy beach near a village like Domburg or do you go for a quiet beach like Nieuwvliet?

There is also a surf school called Surfschool Domburg where you can rent lessons and equipment. In Cadzand you also have surf schools (such as Movement Sports and Moio Beach) where you can do very good water sports. The waves there are just a bit higher than in other places on the coast of Zeeland, making for good surfing, sailing or kayaking. If you prefer supping on a quiet lake, we can recommend Lake Veere.

Something a little different from the coast of Zeeland? Discover nostalgic streets, picturesque villages and historic towns during your week in Zeeland. Take, for example, a visit to Veere on the island of Walcheren. A city with cozy squares, tasty restaurants, cozy boutiques and a nice harbor! Or go to the historic city of Middelburg where you won’t get bored with 1100 monuments. In Zierikzee, too, you will find history literally in the streets. Take a nice city walk, shop in the antique and vintage shops, explore the monuments and enjoy the terrace at the harbor.

For the smaller villages, you have to be in Zeeuws-Vlaanderen. On a rainy day, your best bet is to go to the fortified town of Sluis where you will find good shopping and many restaurants. A visit to the only town hall with belfry is also a good idea! Want to enjoy a delicious bowl of mussels? Then you must visit Philippine, the mussel town in Zeeuws-Vlaanderen. In the central square you will find a statue of a clam and all the restaurants serve the most delicious dishes. Or visit the artistic village of Groede. Enjoy lunch at the market, visit a studio, see an exhibition at the church, stroll down nostalgic Slijkstraat and eat the most delicious Groese porridge cake!
